Exploration and development prospects of coal bed methane(CBM) resources in China

Based on studying exploration and development situation, resource potential, and reserve growth of CBM, some advice were put forward to promoting the development of the CBM industry in China. Resource in place of CBM in 2,000 meters depth to the shallow is 36.81 trillion m³ and recoverable resource of CBM in 1500 meters depth to the shallow is 10.87 trillion m³.The resources are mainly distributed in 9 large-scale basins that its resources in place are more than one trillion m³, including Ordos Basin, Qinshui Basin, etc. The proved reserves in place of China's CBM were forecasted to be rapid development stage after 2010. Proved reserves in-place of gas(CBM)will reach 4000×10⁸m³ in 2010, 12000×10⁸m³ in 2020.The CBM production will reach 100×10⁸m³ in 2010, 300×10⁸m³ in 2020.
