Environment cost caused by mineral resource exploitation and environment management system of Australia

Australia is rich in mineral resources. In recent years, with the increasing of exploitation amount, water consumption and energy consumption are increasing year by year, accompanied with lots of AMD and atmospheric pollutants. A study on 2000~2001 fiscal years showed that, environmental protection expenditure accounts for 1%~1.5% of mining value added. Australia strengthen mine environmental protection by implementation of environmental protection and mine closure planning, setting up mine closure fund, enhancing environmental protection technology, implementation of environmental costs statistical system and so on. These experiences are worth learning.
