Abstract
The present investigation deals with the low separation efficiency in the process of separating quartz from magnesite by reverse flotation. KD-1 is a trade name of a regulator mainly consisted of salts of calcium. With KD-1 as regulator, the effects of KD-1 on separation process have been investigated with magnesite ores, pure quartz and magnesite as samples. The results show that KD-1 improves the separation efficiency obviously in the process of reverse flotation. When SiO2 content in the concentrate meets the requirement, compared with no regulator, adding 1500 g/t KD-1 could get better results that the dosage of the collector is declined by 58%, and the concentrate yield is increased by 4.24%. The research of the mechanism indicated that the function of KD-1 on separation quartz from magnesite by reverse flotation mainly presented as the fluidity of froth increased, the size of bubbles become finer, and the surface area of the bubbles increased as well as the action effect of the collector and quartz.
