Abstract
The study background of the paper is the dump of an open-pit mine. The deformation damage and stability of the dump are deeply analyzed with the Particle Flow Theory, by using the PFC2D numerical simulation program. Some study results are draw as follow: (1) In good condition of foundation bearing capacity, the type of dump landslide is multi-mode combined that the sliding mass slip inside the dump and along the surface layer of the foundation, and the slip surface is approximately circular arc; (2) In the sliding musses of the dump, the movement of particles above the security platform is active, and the stability of this part is poor. (3) The security platform is an effective method to control the deformation and damage of the dump. The study results show that Particle Flow Theory provide a new speculation for stability research of the dump.
