Changes of international status of Chinese molybdenum industry and some suggestions on its sustainable development

By analyzing the data of the recent decade from national governments, the U.S. Geological Survey and relevant web sites, we can know that China has ranked the first place of the world in the capacity of molybdenum production and consumption, and become the country with abundance molybdenum resources. However, there are still some problems needed to be solved urgently in Chinese molybdenum industry, such as lax production leaded by masses of minor enterprises, irrational industrial structure, backward technology and serious waste etc, which tells us that there is a long way to become a powerful country of molybdenum resources. Now as the world has recovered from the shadow of financial crisis, the situation of the international molybdenum markets is getting better gradually. Our country should strengthen macro-control of molybdenum industry; regulate the production and operation of molybdenum. Meanwhile enterprises should strengthen cooperation, accelerate technological innovation, upgrade the equipments to improve the use efficiency of molybdenum resource and make full use of the favorable situation in the future to promote the healthy and sustainable development of Chinese molybdenum industry.
