Metallogenic characteristics and prospecting potential in Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone,located at west Africa craton,is abundant in mineral resources.There are the famous super rutile ore deposits,iron ore deposits and diamond deposits in the world;large goldmine in Kange Rui Shan and more Alluvial gold sand in the greenstone belt distribution area;High purity lateritic bauxite along the Atlantic coast and large untapped diamond placer.The country is divided into five metallogenic belt from north to south in the paper based on the African continent tectonic evolution Platform Features.This paper systematically summarized the regional metallogenic characteristics of Sierra Leone,and analyzed its prospecting potential.Finally,three areas,Kambia-Sembehun,Sula-Kangari Mountains,and Nimini-Kambui Mountains were proposed,which have great ore potential.
