Technical study on the three-dimensional drainage damming for Bayer red mud

In the present technological conditions,the roaring red mud need to be deposited in the open-air place. The pond stacking red mud from Bayer process was constructed with traditional way usually,that was the dam had been built up before the red mud was piled up in the pond. The main disadvantage of the method included the biggish stacking area or quantities of dam. The damming technology of three-dimensional drainage is proposed, that adopts the three-dimensional drainage discharging the isolate water and rainwater,and installs the geogrid reinforcement controlling the development of fissure and increasing the dam stability,combines with air drying one by one. The experiment about the way has been carried on,and makes some conclusions by testing strength indexes of Bayer red mud sampling from trial pond: pouring Bayer red mud 3 ~ 3. 5m heights continuously,after ten-days air drying,the red-mud strength indices have been improved greatly and it can be used to damming. This technology provides some references in the field of the damming quickly with Bayer red mud in the practice.
