STUDY ON MINING ENVIRONMENT IN CHINA'S OCEAN MINING AREA

Ocean mining at a depth of 5000 m faces complicated seabed environment and conditions. Inorder to collect the polymetallic nodules deposited on the seabed and transport them to the mining vessel onthe water surface, many factors should be taken into account, including seawater pressure, corrosion, cur-rent impact, seabed topography and geology, deposit location, ocean meteorology, oceanic condition, etc.From the viewpoint of mining engineering, this paper deals with the mining environment in China's oceanmining area.
