Tests on iron recovery for a xinjiang copper tailing

    • The iron grade of one Xinjiang copper flotation tailings reaches up to 25%,by a microscopic,X-ray diffraction analysis shows that metal minerals are hematite (actual specularite),a small amount of pyrite, chalcopyrite, covellite, chalcocite, limonite, etc. In order to utilize the resource, one enterprise has used high intensity magnetic separation to recover iron minerals. For solving the problem low resource efficiency, reducing roasting-magnetic separation test was finished, then weak magnetic hematite was reduced to high magnetic magnetite. The iron concentrate grade of 58.78% at iron recovery 89.00% was obtained by low magnetic separation. The research has important significance on reclamation of the tailings and reducing environmental pollution due to tailing stack.
