Multipole array acoustic imaging logging system

A comprehensive description of Multipole Array Acoustic Logging system (MPAL) made by CNPC Logging is made in this paper, presenting the industralization process from devlopment of the logging tool to development of the software for data acquisation and interpretation. Comparison between raw data obtained from logging and the data derived from logging interpretation is made and relative errors in terms of consistency and repeatability are analyzed. By using MPAL, the limitation of monopole technology for soft formation is eliminated and remarkable results are achieved in fracture identification, gas zone discrimination, and in analyzing fracturing effect.
