Quasi trim-prism volume based 3D visualization modeling and its application in underground mining engineering

    • Some geological phenomena of mines such as ore bodies, strata, faults, boreholes and shafts, etc. are all three-dimensional spatial objects and it's difficult to realize the spatial analysis of these geological phenomena. The method of three-dimensional visualization modeling is the most important problems in three-dimensional visualization engineering of underground mines. Quasi Trim-Prism Volume (QTPV) model is the basic model in three-dimensional visualization modeling and it is improved from Orthogonal Tri-Prism(OTP). It is suitable for three-dimensional simulation of some complex underground objects such as ore bodies, faults and strata. This paper studies the method of QTPV based three-dimensional modeling. According to the methods and conceptions of QTPV modeling, a web-based three-dimensional model for ore body was constructed with Java3D API based on borehole data. Some functions, such as zoom, rotation etc. are also be realized.
