Desliming of laterite-type weathering placer deposit using efficient inclined plate classifier in production

Abstract
There is significant amount of ilmenite ore in Yunnan province,which belongs to laterite-type placer deposit.Abundant of particles with a small size caused by mineralization have a great effect on the benefication.Therefore,these small particles with a lower content of TiO2 should be removed prior to benefication resulting in a good economical value.The results at a plant scale showed that grade of TiO2 was increased from 9.84 to 15.76% for the underflow and meantime,the overflow product containing 1.17% TiO2 was obtained with a recovery of 5.08% after desliming using efficient inclined plate classifier,and with a classification efficiency for 0.037mm 84.63%.Following by a gravity concentration using sluice,a concentrate containing 33.54% of TiO2 was obtained with a recovery of 86.58%.Compared with the flowsheet without desliming,the concentrate is increased containing 9.83% of TiO2,and 32.61% in recovery.
