Analysis on the development of indium and recommended management strategies

Indium is an important associated metal mineral with scarcity,strategic and risk.It,its alloys and compounds have many uses in displays,solar cells,high-end building materials and so on.China dominates world production of primary indium.Indium-rich materials are mainly distributed in north margin of North China Platform and south,southwest margin of Yangtze Platform.At present,indium resources exploration and utilization faces challenges such as most countries much emphasize on the recovery of secondary indium and its supply accounts for 80% of total indium supply;indium's recent price volatility and various supply concerns associated with the metal have accelerated the development of ITO substitutes; applications continue to expand;market volatility is very obvious;the pricing mechanism is not perfect; resource consumption is increasing.According to the above situation,the paper put forward some suggestion,such as enhance scientific research and establish a national database containing indium mineral specimens;improve industry standards and strengthen comprehensive survey of indium;raise technology level and indium's end-of-life recycling rate;legislation to improve indium supervision and reserve system.
