Abstract
Hongshanzui oil sands area is located in the northwestern edge of Dzungarian Basin, with geological structural conditions complexity. Through analyzing Sedimentary facies, oil source and migration pathway of this area, it shows that Oil sand bodies are mainly delta plaindistributary’s channel deposits, with large accumulative thickness is better spatial distribution, which is benefit for oil and gas reservoir. Objective area is adjacent to the Mahu depression that has good source rocks, large hydrocarbon generation potential and high thermal maturity, and multi-episodic tectonic activities have created favorable conditions for the formation of oil sands. Unconformity and fracture systems are well developed which play controlling role in oil and gas migration in this area. The geological resources amounts of oil from oil sand in the Hongsha 6 well area were calculated by the oil content method, the amount is 0.615 million tons in buried depth of 0 to 50 meters and recoverable reserves are 0.43 million tons.
