AN EXPERT SYSTEM FOR SLOPE STABILITY ASSESSMENT

Based on the collection of large amount of knowledge,experience, information of slope engineering and especialy on the study results of 240 instable surface mine slopes investigated by British Coal and Opencast Executive, an Expert Systme for Slope Stability Assessment was built up with expert system shell Xi-Plus. Finally a case study is presented to verify the Expert System. The results of this assessment show that the Exper System developed can accurately predict the state of slope stability,the main factors influencing slope stability and possible slope failure modes.
