SYNTHESIS AND PROPERTY OF CLAY-ORGANIC RESIN SUPER ABSORBENT COMPOSITE

Using ammonium ceric nitrate and N,N′ methylene bis acrylamide as an initiator and cross linkage agent respectively,a super absorbent was prepared by graft polymerization of acrylamide on starch in the present of clay suspension,followed by hydrolyzing.The water absorbency of the sample under room temperature is 4000g H₂O/g dry sample.The influence of the kind of clay,content of clay,cross linkage agnet on absorbent properties is discussed in this paper.The results show that clay powder,as a kind of functional filler,enhances comprehensive absorbent property of the composites.
