The development of British Geological Survey scientific strategy: three aspects of transformation and one that remain unchanged

This article focuses on comparing and analyzing the scientific strategy and work plan published by the British Geological Survey in the past ten years, furthermore following-up the development of British Geological Survey in these years. Then we summarize its development feature as “three aspects of transformation and one that remain unchanged”. The one that remain unchanged is its basic task and fundamental purpose. And there are three aspects of transformation. The British Geological Survey has adjusted the priority and subject of its work. Its operation mode has been changed over time, in particular to pursue a greater extend of independence and flexibility. And it also revised its working procedure to play a greater role with the big data and the innovative technology in the future. At last，we sum up the development experiences of British Geological Survey.
