Present situation problems and upgrading path selection of western regional mineral resources industry

As it is a major strategic issue of the regional mineral resources industrial transformation and upgrading as well as its scientific development for the sustainable development of both society and economy in western China, this paper presents the issue of path selection for industrial transformation and upgrading after having discussed the present situation and problems of the western regional mineral resources industry. Although the mineral resources industry develops rapidly, there are still a lot of problems of extensive development, irrational structure, environment destruction, weak capacity of technical innovation and so on. To solve these problems, a group of technical innovation-based eco-industrial parks and clusters must be established taking circular economy as a link and developing together with the manufacturing and high-tech industries. Only with the help of eco-industrial parks and clusters, it can realize theindustry’s functional transformation and productivity improvement through organizational changes and value innovation.
