Environmental effects and protection of geothermal development in Anyang,Henan

This paper discourses the regional geology and the therm-reserve features of Anyang sub-depression as well as environmental advantages and prospects of geotherm development in Anyang. The author thinks that Anyang has large potential in geothermal development for its abundant geothermal resources. He illustrates possible effects on water and ecological environment, ground subsidence and seismic activity caused by geothermal development. Then the author sets forth the protectional strategy " Based on protection, limited extraction, intensive use and progressive development". This paper suggests that refilling should be taken as the first precondition of geothermal development.
